Unique Modern Home by Dallas Architect Michael Lyons
Two artists, a photographer and a contemporary impressionist painter, requested a unique modern style home for an undesirable narrow tree lined lot. They wanted a home that represented their style via open spaces for entertaining that flowed from one room to the next, while still achieving a comfortable warm atmosphere.
One of their basic requirements was, designing a home as a gallery space in order to showcase their work for potential clients. This included large blank display spaces, along with focal destinations to draw your eye around the interior.
Another need was for a large studio space with plenty of available light, which would also serve as a classroom. This was accomplished by utilizing the area above an oversized garage and bathing it with the light from multiple windows. The space was then further enhanced by installing an exterior stair and separate entrance for students.
