French Country Home with Curb Appeal Remodel Dallas TX

Lacking a distinctive entry and drive-up curb appeal, the owners of this 1960’s home desired a façade update that would make a bolder statement and a more open and welcoming feel. Architect Michael Lyons chose to remove the overhang at the entry doors and add architectural elements that emphasized the entry and change material for a more textural and stimulating effect. The homeowner liked the idea of stone so much that they wanted to cover the entire façade. However, Lyons explained that a careful use of mixed material in the right proportions could produce a more interesting elevation. After reviewing some of Michael Lyons’ projects, the homeowners realized that the improvements as suggested would achieve their goal.

The project was more about solving an aesthetic issue than fixing function. However, the addition of the columned gable roof at the entry doors provides better protection against rain. Also, the entry doors and the dormer windows allow for improved natural light in the foyer.
